I don't know if this will get a little long but May 1 is just around the corner. I really need some help =/ I applied to Boston U, DePaul U, Ithaca, Elon, and Five Towns as Musical Theatre / Acting major (meaning I had to audition and I did) along with Syracuse U, St. Joseph's College and LIU - CW Post as an undeclared major (so that I had a back-up). In a simple list, here's the results:
Syracuse - Accepted, undeclared
Boston - Rejected
DePaul - Rejected
Ithaca - Accepted, Writing Major
Elon - Wait list
Five Towns - Incomplete application (they wanted me to re-audition - I didn't have time)
St. Joseph's - Accepted, undeclared
LIU - CW Post - Accepted, undeclared
So here's my dilemma. Being that I was rejected from every program that I auditioned for, I'm re-considering whether this truly is the path that I should take. Granted, I do not feel like I allowed myself enough time to prepare for my auditions or that I did them the best that I could. I'm weighing two options:
1. Go to St. Joseph's for one or two years (it's a local college) to earn some core credits while taking acting, voice and dance classes to prepare to re-audition at the schools. If I still get rejected, I'll pick another major.
2. Pick another major now and drop it. I don't know what that major would be.
What do you think? Is it worth trying again or will I just be adding more money onto the student loans that are already going to be astronomical? Elon was my dream school but they wait-listed my academic application so I won't get word from them until June. I recently did a production of Cabaret to which I received more compliments than the person who played the lead and the second-loudest applause at the end of each night. I was consistently told that I "stole the show." I don't know if that means anything.
What would you do?
