I really seem to like asking health questions.

So... for anyone that has allergies... does anyone have a bad cough because of it?  Recently, I was given allergy medicine (I'm stupid because I keep forgetting to take it), and my coughs have been getting worse.  To the point that when it starts happening, I'm come border line throwing up each time.  The coughs get most viscious after I eat food, or after excessive movement... but sometimes, they just come out of no where...

So, anyone have allergies like this?  I always thought runny nose was more of an allergy type thing, so I thought it was kind of weird when my doctor told me my cough might be allergy related...

No, I've never had a cough. I have a food allergy to citrus (which I'm eating now, go figure) and it causes bumps on the back of my throat that itch like hell. Because of that I itch all night in my sleep by rubbing my ears and grating my tongue across it. That in turn causes my ear lobes to bleed and scab and my tongue to be rubbed raw.

It's self inflicted, so I shouldn't complain.

It could be possible, but maybe its not allergies. It could be asthma I didn't know I had it until last year when it finally decided to show up.

I do!!  It's also probably stuff like pollen in the air.  Its been really bad lately because of spring.Mine is also associated with my asthma.

I have severe allergies (I have to take 2 shots at the same time 3x's a week in both arms) and I take like 5 allergy medications on top of that. But I don't cough surpsingly. Before I started injections and taking medicine for allergies, I'd sneeze so bad that I would start wheezing, and it would lead into an asthma attack. My eye's would water so bad that they stayed red and puffy and I'd just break out in whelps.

I mean, if you have medicine for your cough, then take it. Set your alarm clock to certain times and just take it. If it makes you feel better that is why you have it. If it doesn't work, then talk to your Doctor and maybe try something different?

Yeah, I know, I have the alarm set, but for some reason, I just can't remember to take it -__-'.  I'm going to start tomorrow, and I'll make sure to be right on track... I guess it's just weird that it's never been this bad... and it gets REALLY bad especially after eating.  So I dunno, just weird that they call it an allergy when it mainly happens after food, you know?  But then again, recently I've thought maybe I have a food allergy as well or something, lol.

But yeah, I have the alarm set :).

Next time you are at your allergist, have him/her test you for a food allergy. Sounds like you have one, since a lot of your symptoms occur after eating.

No allergist, just a nurse practioner that decided to prescribe me some allergy medicine... I dunno, last time I went to the doctor, I talked about it, but she completely over looked it because we were focusing on something entirely different -__-'.  Lol... well, I'm going again on the 25th, so maybe I'll request allergy tests.  I know something like a yeast allergy is in my family line somewhere... so maybe I'm allergic to wheat or yeast, which is pretty common in food, because I cough after EVERYTHING, lol.

Yea, go to an Allergist, they can pinpoint out specifically what is wrong with you, etc.. and give you the proper medication you might need for whatever it is causing you to react (coughing.)

Didn't know that it was called an allergist.  Alright, I'll ask my doctor about it, and hopefully we can figure out if something is up :).
