"Intellectuals" what is your understanding of who Jesus Christ is?
But perhaps more importantly how do you "know" what you "know" about him? What are your sources for believing what you believe, or "knowing" what you "know"?
Be completely honest open, even if you know your source is something questionable, like a LW post or your friends brother.
Maybe you have no real opinion on who he is/was, maybe you think he never existed, thats cool, just say why you came to such conclusions.

I've posted this here, not the religious or history forum, mainly because of the verbose rule.

A religious figure who appeared around 10 B.C. (I leanred that in history class) He is the son of the virgin mary. He was named the messiah by many peoples after commiting numerous public miracles. He is the messiah to the christian and catholic peoples. He was originally Jewish.

The real Jesus, if he existed, was one of many religious leaders who claimed to perform miracles some 2000 years ago. The biblical Jesus is a mythological construction from the real Jesus, or several of the religious leaders, includes Apollonius of Tyana.

There are reports banned by the Romans years later from Jesus's times, where a Jewish village claimed that a "madman" had been born into their community. They record him preaching in the synagoggue that he was God, which everyone considered pure and utter bullshit.

I believe that Jesus Christ, or "Yeshu" as he was originally called in his lifetime was just a man with an incredibly high ego.

My source is my father, who took a course on archeological history in the land of Israel. We actually visited the community and synagoggue from which the reports were filed.
