Do Americans care about what is going on in your country? Don't you see where your country is going? Or do you guys just don't care? Or is your political system so corrupt by big buiness and lobbyists that the common person is not being heard?
H.R. 1955 Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act.
The Bill passed the House vote 404-6.
When HR 1955 becomes law, it will create a commission tasked with identifying extremist people, groups, and ideas. The commission will hold hearings around the country, taking testimony and compiling a list of dangerous people and beliefs. The bill will, in short, create massive terrorism in the United States. But the perpetrators of terrorism will not be Muslim terrorists; they will be government agents and fellow citizens.
Who will be on the "extremist beliefs" list? The answer is: civil libertarians, critics of Israel, 9/11 skeptics, critics of the administration's wars and foreign policies, critics of the administration's use of kidnapping, rendition, torture and violation of the Geneva Conventions, and critics of the administration's spying on Americans. Anyone in the way of a powerful interest group--such as environmentalists opposing politically connected developers--is also a candidate for the list.
Americans are so far removed from the roots of their liberty that they just don't get it. Most Americans don't know what habeas corpus is or why it is important to them.
This search for extremist views comes after President Bush and the Justice Department declared that the President can ignore habeas corpus, ignore the Geneva Conventions, seize people without evidence, hold them indefinitely without presenting charges, torture them until they confess to some made up crime, and take over the government by declaring an emergency. Of course, none of these "patriotic" views are extremist.
Here is a video explaining the Bill

I wasn't aware of that (not that I have any say at the moment, anyway, being a minor), but I'm aware of quite a few other things. A lot of people don't understand their rights, and those who do really don't know how/can't act. It seeming more and more that no money = no power.

What liberty is being taken away from someone that is put on that list because of their radical beliefs?
With the number of people on those lists, and the intel gathered on them, only a minute fraction of those individuals will actually be questioned/watched, with even less than that being detained for ANY period of time.
also: No law has EVER been passed that says "We can torture you until you confess to some made up crime"
And Martial Law has ALWAYS been a fall-back for the government for times of dire need.
quit hyperbolizing the situation and stick to your maple syrup, Eh?
