wow.. well I have a hard time believing that the hospital sent her home because they can't get her to eat. Thats strange... But I guess all you can do is be encouraging.

Depending upon her age, her parents can give permission to the doctors at the hospital to insert a feeding tube. If her condition is so severe that such measures are necessary, the doctors will surely do it. Have you tried talking to her family?

bring her to a huge mirror and tell her wat she sees, give her a minute to give her some time... maybe she can see how she looks and wat she is doing to herself

i'm so so so sorry. Right now i just started recovery, so i still dont know much about what i think right now, but she probably feels like theres nothing in this world she deserves and theres nothing she cares about but really i dont think she wants to die, she just doesnt know how to feel anything but what the disorder is making her feel. I would have no clue what to say to her, maybe talk about some old memories together and ask her to try and explain to you what shes feeling that second. Just sit and listen to her if shes willing to talk. Don't try and make her happy, because that'll feel like your just dismissing her feelings, but bring up happy memories or something and casually get it into a conversation or bring it up. Just try and make her hopeful

My gawd she does not want the needle. I wanted to cry and scream when they gave me the needle and I wasn't even that thin. Just had a few complications from an extreme diet...I wish I had've just eaten. I was 17 so I couldn't refuse it. It hurts going in,it hurts coming out and the whole time it's in you feel like shit coz you know you're absorbing calories. WAY nicer just to eat.

A girl at my school was anorexic for 2 years. She's just come out of hospital like last week, and said they really helped her, just be there for her whenever you can, and tell how you feel, things will be okay. don't worry.
