Anyone get tension headaches and actually take medication for it?

I have chronic tension headaches and I'm going to be going on something for it.

Just wondering what you take...and if it works.

I see we're both crazy, that's alright with me
The night was kind of hazy that's the way it's gonna be
I say now
Hey girl, come with me and let yourself go

It's usually your lifestyle that does it.

You stressed at school or something?

I was given a really low dose of Amitripteline for my tension headaches. A bit odd as their usually used as antidepressants in larger doses, but what they really do is relax me just slightly, and change the pain receptors in my brain, so my head isn't always so cranky. On the other hand, since I've been taking them, my hair's been falling out in alarming quantities. x3
My hairs quite thick, though, so maybe I'm just moulting because it's spring.

My friend has excessively bad headaches, but I don't know what medication she takes because I don't think it's any of my business.  She says that whatever it is makes her feel like she can't feel any emotion, just apathy, which makes me think that her doctors thought the headaches were from depression because everyone I know who's on depression pills has the same problem.  I think her headaches are a combination of stress/depression, but she insists the food that she eats causes the headaches (for instance, she blamed tonight's headache on Italian dressing).

I hope I live to tell the tale.
