Crazy snake, I apologize for stealing your topic. =/ I was actually thinking about a topic I saw around a year ago similar to yours. It was a lot more concise though, with merely three poll options. Personally, I group all genres of music into three categories - Rap, Rock, and everything else. Nearly all other genres are just variations of either rock or rap. I'm curious to see, put simply, if your intelligence reflects at all on your music taste, Obviously there are exceptions. But I'm just looking at the general picture. So, intellectuals! Are you a rock or a rap person? Rock = Classic Rock, Rock & Roll, Alternative, Adult Alternative, Screamo, Metal, Hardcore, Rock Pop, Pop Rock, Surf Rock, Stadium Rock, Country Rock, Country, Ska, Acoustic, Folk, Emo, Funk, Indie, Gothic, Chick Rock, etc. Rap = Hip-hop, R&B/Soul, etc. Other = Showtunes, Classical, Instrumental, etc. Combination = Obviously a mixture of rock and pop, or that indescribable genre that seems to be a bit of everything -- often featuring multiple artists. Vote.

Metal would be my favorite genre overall. Although I listen to a lot of hip-hop and electronic based music.

I tend to like all types of music. My favorite genres, however, include broadway, classical and soft rock.

I really do love both, but the majority of my favorite bands are more rock than rap. Lately it seems though, that more good rap music has emerged than good rock music. But that is just my observation. "Indie rock" bands as of late seem to sound all the same, but NON-radioplay hip hop artists are really putting out some great stuff. My favorite genres would have to be shoegaze, IDM/electronica (mostly melodic electronica, though I do enjoy head-smashing rave music a lot of the time), '90s indie/underground, '90s hip hop, noise rock and then alt-country. My favorites Rock: Pavement, Guided By Voices, Sonic Youth, Slowdive, Wilco, Yo La Tengo, the Brian Jonestown Massacre, the Dandy Warhols, Boards of Canada, Silver Jews, Spiritualized, My Bloody Valentine, the Jesus & Mary Chain, Talking Heads, the Velvet Underground, Eluvium, the Books Hip Hop: A Tribe Called Quest, 2pac, Busdriver, Cadence Weapon, Chi-Ali, Cypress Hill, Fat Boy Slim Combination: Gorillaz, Ratatat, !!!, Let's Go To War
