My friend who works at a Motorola campus here in Il recently gave me a laptop from the company as they were giving many away asking employees if they wanted to keep a few before scraping them altogether(they were upgrading their hardware).  The one my friend kept wasn't his workstation, he had the password and gave it to me since I'd been buggin about a laptop.  However, being the dumbass/burnout I am, I lost it/misplaced it, prolly folded it up & broke up some chronic on it and tosssed it afterwards, I don't know, but this laptop he gave me has a Windows XP log on that I obviously don't know the password to.

Any of you know about cracking/bypassing a Windows Log-On?

yes, you'll have to retrieve the LM hash, and then put it through rainbow tables.

if it's an easy pass it could be cracked within 10 mins.

however, IANAL but if it's yours it's probably legal to do this.

Wasn't sure if I was asking for anything illegal.  This other forum I posted the same question at had locked the topic saying I was asking for illegal hacks.  If that is what I am asking for in effect, then nevermind(or PM the info ).

If you find a friend with the same version of XP (probably XP Pro) then you will be able to install from scratch using the key on the bottom of the laptop (the Windows sticker).

Boot up and keep ressing F8 untill it gives you the option to boot into safe mode.

From here the default administrator account will be enabled. If you are using the welcome screen it will be shown and if it hasn't been modified you should be able to login without a password. If you havent got the welcome screen under username type administrator and leave the password field blank.

Once logged in go to start>control panel(Classic view)>User accounts. You can either delete the other account and make your own or select it and delete the password. Once this is done restart normally and it should automatically log in/Show your new user.

Right. Only thing is that when I do that, there is no Administrator account as you would see in this log in,

The login on the laptop is more like this,

So I have no Admin login option to click, but I do erase the default user name and type in Administrator and leave password blank, but it says the password doesn't match. I'm guessing Motorola or whoever put a pass on Admin, and that haults me from doing the Safe Mode bypass. Holla back if you can.

Thanks anyhow

It's set to a domain.

You just need to reinstall XP. There is no way to get around this without the password or some hard work.

Try the safemode but change the "Log on to" Local pc (Pc name) that may work... But i fear if it was a Domain laptop they wouldn't want you to have local access.

I'm sending you a PM now on reseting the passwords.
