This book, series, whatever...it doesn't deserve a sticky. -.-

There's a sticky because otherwise the forum is totally clogged with topics about it

I have a quick question.  Are the books as unintentionally funny as the movie?  I saw it with my little sister, and it was pretty funny.  Are the books like that, or just bad?

Some are unintentionally funny. Breaking Dawn, for example, made me laugh out loud at several points when I'm pretty sure I wasn't supposed to be laughing out loud. New Moon, on the other hand, just made me want to flush it down the toilet.

So, for a straight male who wants to read it strictly for the humor value, would you reccomend I take the time and read the whole series, skip it, or only read some of the books?

Is it just my books or has anyone noticed some clear typo's. I found at least 3 words that are just plain wrong. Many "thoughts" instead of "though". That is bad.

I tend to read a bit too quickly to pick up on individual typos, but I'd heard that a lot. A handful of people have tried to argue that it was a "bad copy" whenever someone sees typos, but understanding the way publishing works, that's kind of impossible.

*shrug* Doesn't really detract from the goodness or badness of the books or say anything about the author, imo, just that the publishing house needs some better proofreaders and editors.

And I still stand that her writing far surpasses Anne Rice's. But she still has a bit to do to reach J.R. Ward's Vampiric novelelic writing ability.

Wow.  Might I ask what you think makes Meyer's writing better than Rice's?  I just can't see any comparison, in my opinion.  Meyer's obviously geared towards teenagers and it comes through in the writing.

Ugh.  New Moon was so boring for me.  I realize Bella was depressed due to rejection (how stupid is she to not realize that Edward's change from "Sweetie poo, I love you more than anything!" to "I just don't like you.  Later," was way too fishy and improbable in that short amount of time?), but hell, I find depression to be interesting.  Instead I was bored to tears so much that I could only read one page every so often...it took me a span of three months to trough through it.  I was hoping I could return the book if I didn't like it so I could get my money back, but by the time I finished, I wasn't able to.  Argh!

Goodness! I just read the "sample" of breaking dawn.

Horribly written, probably for teenagers who have just started to pick up reading for fun, for the first time.

Meyer is an absolutely terrible writer and it is disgusting to hear her name mentioned with superior authors who have actually published well researched, quality literature.
