You're right, the Earth has changed climates before. The problem is that over the billions of years, it has stayed pretty consistent with it's changes...until now, there is a drastic difference in the climate changes of today, versus the several hundred changes that have been occurring. This had proven to be the result of humanity, but the extent of this change will not be known until it is over...and if things continue the way they are going, not many (if any) people will be left to record it. This is the only debatable subject, how will the Earth be affected. Everything else has been proven to be in existence.

The thing is how do they kno its a drastic change. science hasnt been adept enough to monitor the changes properly. The damage could of been happenign over hundreds of years but they wouldnt know... Though i suppose they would wouldnt they really. I dunno, alot of it hype but then the consequences are there arent they. UV rays and such
