So, I'm always concerned about this, so I think that the support leaders should decide upon what eHelp to keep if there is a double post of any sort.

I want all of your imput, just say something like "Keep the first one" or "Keep the most recent one", so we don't end up deleting all of them by miscommunication.

Personally, I think we should delete all but the most recent one. I don't know why, but that's just what I think. This of course, discludes if someone has replied to one. Then we keep that one.

Also, I'm thinking maybe a little live chat for each eHelp might help, just to talk amongst eachother, so maybe we can say which one we are going to delete, or maybe share on how everyone sees the response in case there isn't much information. Just really to keep things clear between SLs.

So far, seems like the oldest one stays.

Now, what about the chat? I'd like any feedback on that too.

Every time I edit this post it gets more and more garbled.

If two ehelps are identical, delete the newer ones.

If one ehelp has replies and another doesn't, deleted the one without replies.

If one ehelp has vastly more info than another with replies, message the SL to repost/rewrite their reply on the newer ehelp, and vote to delete the other one.

I dissagree, I think that we should only keep the origional. Or just keep the one with a reply. If there are some replies on one and some on the other, go by the same rule, and the SL who posted in the newer one should just copy and paste it into the origional

When eHelps are accidentally double-posted I vote to delete the last one that was posted (figuring that the older one may be in the process of being read, most likely, since more people are likely to have clicked on that than the one posted seconds ago, y'know?). The time that I would choose to delete the older one is if the newer one has more, or more detailed eHelp replies.

Basically, I vote to keep the oldest, or the most "helpful".

Makes sense. I really don't care which one we delete, but it's just a matter on a neutral agreement to go by.

So we're all pretty much in agreement here.

I must say, off topic, but still important. Just because you don't think something is an emergency, doesn't mean it should be removed

There was an eHelp about problems about oral sex in there, and it was removed. Wtf?

C) Vote to Delete (eHelp)

Support leaders are given the option to "self-moderate" the eHelp system, with the understanding that we will do so fairly and accurately.  This tool isn't one that should be utilized often, but there will arise times when an eHelp needs to be removed. For example, suicide eHelps, duplicate eHelps, and topics not asking for support. Suicide eHelps absolutely must (as upsetting as it may be) be removed due to legal reasons, and should be removed as quickly as possible.  Duplicate eHelps need to be removed because they are unnecessary, and at the same time may take attention away from other eHelps.  Topics not asking for support (how to close an account, download music, etc.) do not belong in the eHelp system, as they obviously are not emergency situations.

Through the history of the eHelp system, countless debates have taken place regarding what is an emergency, and what is not.  It's important to understand that no one has the right to decide what is important to someone, and what may not be important enough to be an emergency.  Basically, if someone feels like they need help, chances are high that their problem is worthy of the eHelp system.  We can't be the deciding factor of why someone may have decided to use the eHelp system, and we should never try to be.  Keep in mind they may be trying to avoid spammy short replies, being too harshly judged by members, or even being seen by a moderator (the eHelp system is 100% anonymous when a user chooses to submit an anonymous eHelp).

Parting Note: When it doubt, don't be afraid to message a Peer Support Leader moderator to get a second opinion.  It's also important to note that if you are the last support leader to vote to remove an eHelp reply, you should get in contact with that member.  This will allow for you to explain why their eHelp was removed, and if both parties are willing, you may be able to provide some help to the user.

I follow Khadgar's guidelines (except I've never actually had to message an SL and tell them to repost). However, I'm going to add one more thing. If it's the same eHelp, and one is posted by the member name and the second one is posted anonymous, I tend to delete the one which has the member name, because to me it seems they want it to be anonymous. If it was originally posted by a guest, and then it is posted by a member, anonymous or not, I tend to delete the guest one.

There are guidelines for this.

If there is more than one eHelp posted, follow this simple guidelines:

   * If one already has a reply, vote for the one that doesn't. No matter what.
   * If one is a guest/anonymous, and one is an account, vote for the guest/anonymous.
   * If they are both guest/accounts/anonymous, vote for the one submitted second.

From the SL group.
