Cutting is a coping mechanism. Coping with depression, anxiety, dissociation, stress, etc. It's maladaptive, and it ends up increasing the feelings that you're trying to get rid of in the long run, but it provides temperary relief from overwhelming feelings for some people. It's addictive in part because it's so easy, and it has fast (though eventually very negitive) results. For more information, http://www.golivewire.com/forums/topic.cgi?forum=1&topic=4577.Please
do not hold strong opinions on things that you do not understand. It gets old very fast. (At least you're asking though, assuming this wasn't ment as a sarcastic-moron post, and that's an improvement :))
