Guitar strings?
Have you ever tried using the G in the high E's place and just tuning it to the E?

If you have, does it work?

I have a show in like... an hour and all the music shops around me are closed. I don't have an extra E.

couldn't you just take the higher notes down an octave, and go without it?

use a b string and tune it, it would just be a heavy guage
