Mario del Socorro (ex Maria) and Diana Guerrero (ex Jose) are hoping that their marriage will affect the congress to accept a new law which would allow public hospitals to perform sex change surgeries and later change names.
"If you apply for a new job and your name won't match with that you look like they just won't hire you,"
said the  55 year old del Socorro.
The couple got married using their pre-surgery names because the law allowing gay marriages don't give the same rights as a traditional marriage.

The bride's Catholic parents said that it had taken several months to find a priest who would marry the couple in church.

«After all it's a marriage between a man and a woman, so why shouldn't this union be blessed under the eyes of God?» asked Flor Guerrero, sister of the bride.
