On my laptop that is totally ready to die if i move it a certain way the screen has a blue-ish tinge to it, any help as to why/ how i can fix it.

(you know im happy that im not with my ex anymore, but he was an electronics engineer and it sucks to have lost his tech help!)

Videocard may be loose.  You could take it to a store and have them fix it, unfortunately with laptops its almost cheaper to buy a new one than to fix them.

Does it do this only while it in Windows (or whatever operating system you use), or while it is starting up too?

Untrue. You can have most problems fixed for a couple of hundred dollars. Nearly all laptops cost between $1500-$2000 (in Australia, at least.) The one I'm on at the moment was purchased for $2500.

Spending over a grand on a laptop is almost worthless.  If you are trying to get a super computer for a laptop you just defeated the purpose of the laptop.

Anyway chances are the laptop is nearly out of date and dumping another few hundred into it when you could buy a new one for a little more just seems uneconomical.

Did you let it drop recently by anychance? Cause If someone dropped it without telling you, this would explain the tinge. There could be a slight crack in the screen, thats letting the light at the back shine through that part more, which could cause a bluey tinge. But that way, you would be able to see the crack... How old is the laptop? What is the model? Brand?

Ah, then from what I've experienced, the problem is probably with the cable, or the actual connection from the external video port on your laptop to the motherboard on the laptop.

Can you try it with another monitor and see if it works? If it does then the problem is with the current monitor or it's cable.

Or do you have a monitor where you can just change the VGA cable that goes from the screen to the laptop? That could also be a problem.

The computers at our school have had similar problems, and it seems to be at the connection from the cable to the monitor itself. If you rotate it a bit the colour gets messed up, because not all the pins are making a good connection.

Thank you, i will try this, although the laptop itself seems to be having troubles too though, i only use the latop to play the sims 2, and it keeps crashing and freezing after only being on a few minutes.
I guess i've been lucky that its lasted this long, the screen broke way back in december.
