Product key is what is need to determine whether or not
you have a registered /unregistered product. It will come
with a product when use to activate and you can usually
get it when you purchase software.

Microsoft comes with a trial timer, meaning once activated
it counts down until expiration; Rendering it useless, or
very limited activities from what you need; Forcing you to either,
activate it (buy there product) or uninstall it.

Good News You don't need it! So you can uninstall it.
I had the same problem, that is before I found a
program call Open Office. It's so much better than
Windows, It has everything you need in Office and it
was FREE!!!! I love that word. I love the product.
You'll be glad you did.

The link is below. Enjoy.

If you really want it and there is no product key at the bottom of your laptop then you're
going to have to call Microsoft and they will issue you with one.

call microsoft, speak to someone you dont understand and get a huge bill, sory but its the only way, unless you install an older version you have, i run both on my laptop and they work fine together. Also, check the bottom of the laptop and there will be a few numbers ther, try the xp lisence key, it might double up but i doubt it.

Last I checked, you didn't need to register to be able to use it.  As long as you enter in the product key you should be good to go.  Just hit register later and it'll probably work.  If not, you'll have to pay for a product key from microsoft.

I'd recommend using Open Office.  It's free, and works just as well as Microsoft Word.
