So badly. SO badly.

I KNOW that I'm good, I know. I don't want to be all "I'm the best actor in the world, la di da!" but I do know that I have talent. I'm studying it professionally - I've been told that. I was even randomly approached by a man on the street who saw a play of mine and really enjoyed my performance.

I don't want fame and I don't want money. I don't want to move to Los Angeles. Everybody in LA is in "actor" anyway - usually because they want to be famous or become rich or party with the stars or have glory or whatever.

I love the craft. I just love it. And if I had a way to support myself, I would do it for nothing, just so I could do it.

But I'm surrounded by people who constantly tell me that I can't. That I should throw away my dreams and find a "real" career. I hate that. It's so depressing.

No. I don't know that many people around here who have any interest in theatre at all. Most want to be engineers and get into the mining and petroleum industry - it's booming here.

You should do what you need to do. Acting, along with professional musicianship and painting, ARE real careers. You just need to be very good at them. From what it sounds like, you have the potential to be that good, so go do it!!!

my cousin went to be an actor, like went to a school for it back in Chicago, but you can't just be a straight up actor, you have to take other jobs as well to support yourself like stage crew and stuff and taking odd jobs, but you can do it if you want to. he's going to be starting next year, cuz he's graduating this year.

Aww, thanks everybody! I feel better.

Yeah, I know you usually can't just be an actor, because you make less than $30,000 a year, usually. But I'm okay with taking temp jobs or whatever to support myself.
