I am just curious about this what it take to convince the next president of the USA and congress to pass a law legalizing marijuana, I mean in all reality it's just a hyped up cigarette and in my opinion it helps you sleep better at night time so whats the big deal

Not a good idea. It will be a catastrophe and the country will go out of control with a bunch of drug addict running around and crime will go up in the sky, and a little moral values we have left would be finished. We must not approve such bill and shall be vetoed with whatever necessary means.

Uh, I take it you've never been to Amsterdam?

Everyone should listen to Bill Hicks.

In the midst of his comedy on marijuana, he asks the great question: "How many homes have been broken because of marijuana?"

Yes, legalize marijuana.  I wrote a letter to my representative about it and voting yes on that previously posted bill.

The WHO published a report a few years ago saying how marijuana and mushrooms were less dangerous and less addictive than alcohol or tobacco.

I know a ton of people that smoke weed.  Keeping it illegal isn't preserving our 'moral fiber', it's diverting police resources.  I think we should decriminalize all drugs - not legalize, just give less harsh penalties and rely more on community service and rehab.

For many, Marijuana is just a stepping stone to more lethal drugs.
Something like this could also make the US a hot spot for drug trafficking into other countries in which the drug is illegal.
Abuse of it by kids might also be a problem, it'll be easier to get etc and them turning up to school high is not a sight i want to see.
Tbh, as long its regulated and strict, it should be Ok.

Well, in most cases, it isn't. Marijuana is legal in Amsterdam and they're hardly a dangerous nation.

The gateway theory is bullshit. People who use hard drugs probably started with marijuana, but most who smoke weed never go to hard drugs. In any case, caffeine would be more of a gateway drug

If we change our laws, other countries might follow suit

Yeah, since we're doing a great job of stopping that...

If I had to pick between alcohol and marijuana being illegal, and the other legal, pot wins.

How many people have been killed by drunk drivers? Now, tell me how many have been killed by baked drivers? How many people's lives have been ruined by alcohol as compared to pot? I could go on.

It's not even physically addictive. The only way you're getting addicted to pot is if you have no will power what so ever.

now, now, kiddies we don't want to get ourselves in a opium war, all drugs not used or misused for medical purposes are WRONG, the natural being should not have to amplify their body with addiction. there is nothing in the world that says we should do drugs, then again there is also nothing that says we shouldn't: we only have opinions

It should be, along with all other currently illegal drugs, legalized, regulated, and taxed. I really doubt that this will happen any time some though, even with cannabis.
