Hello!

I didn't get into the schools I wanted to and just wondering if it is humanly possible to complete 60 units in a year and transfer to Berkeley or some nice private LAC?

Thank you.

not in any american unversity system. I suppose you could take 20 hours per semester, with written permission, but I only know of being able to take up to 12 or 14 in a summer. so...that still doesnt put you to 60.

Maybe with summer school.

I'm trying to remember how many you need per quarter...

I'm thinking I got 16 credits per quarter... 3 quarters... 48 credit hours. In order to do it, you would have to take either 20 credits per quarter or between 16-18 and possibly take summer classes (they usually cut the summer into two parts, so they last about a month of classes but twice as many hours at a time).

Semesters is different (obviously).

Hmm, not that I know of.  But I know many people that have gone to a 2 year community college and then transfered afterwards.  Some schools have transfer agreements as well, so you need to look into those.

So while it may suck being at a community college for two years, it's a thought. :P

My counselor told me that she knew a kid who successfully did it, so I thought it was possible. That kid must have worked his butt off!

Haha, I think you need special permission to take a heavier course load, but that might depend on the school.  You'd have to ask your counsellor how he did it :P.

20 units/quarter for 3 quarters. or start in summer taking, take 15 units/quarter for summer and then the 3 quarters of the academic school year = 4 x 15 = 60.

Well, here in my area, we can take 19 (21 with permission) each fall and spring semester, and 14 each summer session. There's also the winter session, where we can take 3. Sooo...

19+19+14+3=55
21+21+14+3=59

Pretty close.

If you're in high school and taking AP classes, you can get college credit before you enter.  I know someone who got almost a whole semester full of credits by taking AP classes.
