alright i'm having trouble with using three routers on a network. so i have dsl with the modem and router together. then there is another router by it which is connected to both. now what i want to do is connect another router which as wireless on it but it wont foward any traffic though the wireless router. i even tried to use it as a router and a gateway and still nothing..anyone else do something like this?

So you have it like this?

MODEM > Router
                ^
          > Router?

That makes no sense... You could just stack it... Connect Router 1 to modem, then router 2 to connect to an output on router 1... Router 3 connects to router 2.

Why are you doing this? How many computers you networking?

modem/router > router

modem/router to my laptop/living room/basement

what i want is

modem/router > router > wireless router

modem/router to living room

router to basement

router > wireless router to my room used as a switch

i'm gonna be networking

8 computers if it all goes well

five in my room
one living room
one basement
one sisters room

one more when sister is here.

just get a wifi/router/adsl modem in one lol. with lots of ports. Im happy with my 2 12 port stack switches in the closet.

what i'm going for is two different networks so when i get my cisco stuff....i'll be able to work on that and also access my computers from school if i want to up load and download files.

You may possibly need a more sifisticated router e.g cisco 1700 series or 2600 series routers with to ethernet interfaces so you can route between the two networks.

yea. i got it going but the third router wont foward internet traffic.
