In your own opinions and from your experience in seeing friends/peers, do you believe that upon coming to College that most people drink ONLY for a short time then stop?

Is it common for freshmen (Esp. freshmen Girls) to drink heavily and go out every weekend for only that year?  Then they stop forever...?  Or is it more like a choice..you do it all the time or never again.

Because I noticed my friends drank a lot during freshman year but never during sophomore (well, her boyfriend also had a lot against alcohol).  Do you thik they will ever want to drink again when they get olddr or when they are 21?

a lot of my friends were hardcore about drinking from start to end (of freshman year). they'll just change where and with who they drink, i think.

I started drinking in middle school.  College has only made it more socially acceptable.

People usually stop PARTYING, I've noticed but they don't stop drinking. It becomes a social thing. But then again there's that phrase "After college, it's called alcoholism".

Oh, and I've noticed anything at my school, it's that the older you are, the more you party. I was only like one out of like twelve freshman that actually went to parties.

I'm not in college yet, but I can only assume most do it for the attention, until they realize it isnt the right way...
But some just chose it as a lifestyle..

Your drinking habits will align completely with who you hang out with. That's what happened with me!

*sighs* People like you disgust me.

You don't have to drink if you dont' want to. College is no different than high school, or even middle school. Peer pressure is going to exist, always. But if you can avoid it once, you can easily avoid it later.

i didnt mean drink excessively

its a way of socializing and it has been for as long as modern human history.

what i guess i meant was
get used to the prospect of drinking and understand your limits.

often times meetings and business deals go on at bars.

Talking is a way of socializing.

Your point? Just because you're in a bar, doesn't mean you have to drink.
