God comes from our mind. He is, by default, what we assign to things we don't yet understand. Such as the cause of the universe.
We do understand the beginning of the universe now, just some people are being stubborn about it.
Not really.
Yes, the Big Bang Theory explains the majority of it quite well. I will admit there are inconsistencies, but we still know most of it. (Just to avoid any idiotic replies, Theory definition: A coherent group of general propositions used as principles of explanation for a class of phenomena: Einstein's theory of relativity.
Sweetie, I probably understand the definition of scientific theories at least as well as you do. The "Big Bang Theory" only concerns the original expansion (unknown cause) of a "singularity" (unknown origin) into the universe. That's it, that's all.

So you want to know the origin of the Point of Origin, and the actual cause of the Big Bang? Post edited at 1:22 pm on June 27, 2008 by nigeltheoutlaw

Do you know that actual cause? The point I was making is that we don't know. Are you about to prove me wrong?

Please note that the Big Bang only accounts for our current universe. There could have been hundreds, or hundreds of billions of Big Bangs. This does not account for the actual origin of the universe as a whole in energy form (purest form).

We were on the wrong page. The Point of Origin's expansion can not yet be explained, and at this time can be attributed to a higher power. however, saying so would prove a large part of the Christian bible false, as well as many other religions and holy books.
As Shaknbake said, the "Big Bang" actually fits into Genesis pretty well from a Christian point of view. Did you know that a Catholic priest who also happened to be a scientist first proposed the idea that came to be known as the "Big Bang"? His name was Georges Lemaître. Look it up.
Shak'n'bake didn't say the Big Bang fit in well with Genesis, he said it doesn't contradict it if you don't take Genesis literally. It's not particular shocking that a Catholic was a scientist. There are quite a few Christian scientists. From what a few of them have told me, they keep science in one area of thought, and their religion in another, because they admit they frequently contradict each other.
