The dot is to symbolise if the woman is married or not, it's also not exclusive to hindus, some other Indian women do it as well, especially if they're in a region that's predominantly hindu (even if they're not). And the piercing thing, hell that's just a cultural fashion statement, lots of asian girls do it (and lots don't too), it has nothin to do with religion.

many married woman do have that dot its called 'bindi'. nose piercing is not widely done these days. i dont have nose pierced but now its fashion related too
