I do have to say, Rafael was amazing. I cheered for him all the way through, Im glad I saw one of the best and longest Wimbledon finals in this century. Federer, I felt really bad for him. McEnroe was talking to him afterwards and Federer almost started crying and McEnroe hugged Federer and showed sympathy. Poor Federer!
I know, he was so nice at the end, though. At least Nadal was humble when he accepted and didn't shove anything in Federer's face. As much as I wanted Federer to win, Nadal deserved his victory.

Wait a few years.
Federer still has the higher seed and better chances to win at every Hard, Grass, and Carpet court he plays on instead of Clay. By the end of the Clay and Grass Court season, Nadal's knees are excruciatingly painful for him, which is why he has never really done that well during the US Open series or Tennis Masters Cup, which both Federer is expected to win still.

yeah because he gives so much of himself. The fact that he gets injured doesn't mean he's a worse player than Federer though.

However, it doesn't mean that Nadal is any better than Federer either? Federer has more titles and obviously has clear edge over Nadal on Hard courts, because of Nadal's constant injuries due specifically to his inability to function the same as he can on the softer surfaces.

Es tut mir leid, but I am afraid that would have, could have, should have isn't a valid reason for further discussion, jakelong. Has Nadal ever made it to the finals of the Tennis Masters Cup? Ever made it to the Finals of either US Open or Australian Open? Yes, he is 22-years-old, but it practically took him exhausting every hat trick in the book in order to win their latest bout on grass, Federer's dominant surface, who is presently 26-years-old. Simply acknowledging Nadal as young and capable of becoming greater is logical, yes, but you should not discredit experience or age, as well. Federer still has a couple of more years to play phenomenally competitive tennis on Hard-Grass-Carpet courts, and would be even better on Clay if he practiced round the clock on his own clay circuit with a left-handed clay court player to help him train against Nadal. Granted, Nadal is naturally a right-handed person who was forced to learn how to play tennis with his left-hand by his uncle in order to give him a greater edge over his opponents. Federer has since been able to consistently played Nadal in crucial finals on Hard-Clay-Grass, but not Carpet as of yet thus far. He is getting up in age, yes, but he still is #1 and arguably one of the greatest tennis players of all-time due to his versatility and overall ability to increase his competitiveness during trying moments in professional tennis. How old was Agassi again when he made it to the Finals of the US Open against Federer in 2005? Agassi turned pro in 1986 and was able to win the 2003 Australian Open as his final Grand Slam Tournament. How old was Samprass when Federer dethroned him in the 4th Round of the 2001 Wimbledon games, before finally retiring as of 2003? He went pro originally around 1988, and was able to win upward to 14 of the 18 Grand Slam Finals? In the three widely publicized exhibition matches between Federer-Samprass, how old was he when he was able to win of those matches?

Maybe you should hear what Federer said about nadal
Federer said Nadal was being underestimated, especially by the media. "There's no such thing as a specialist on clay now. Maybe it's your best surface but then you can always play well on the hard courts, and even grass today," he said. "That's why I am not surprised at all at how good he is -- what has surprised me that at his young age, he's been able to do it for so long. "That's impressive stuff and something that I wasn't able to do. That's why I have high respect for him. "It's almost impossible for him to be as dominant on hard courts as he is on clay because hard courts is just a different ball game, but it (his main rival) is Nadal."

I don't but don't discredit Nadal neither.

Sure but Nadal ois up and coming right behind.
arguably one of the greatest tennis players of all-time
yeah well to me Pete Sampras beats them all. He WAS the BEST. Ever.
In the three widely publicized exhibition matches between Federer-Samprass, how old was he when he was able to win of those matches?
Doesn't mean much because by the time he beat him Sampras was already older and more tired and practically retired.

I love how you continue to selectively read most, if not all of the information that you simply choose to voice your opinions over. I am looking at simple numbers, and by Nadal's playing style, it has much to be desired on Hard Courts as a rule, not Federer. They're both humble players and deeply respect one another, but that does not mean that Federer is down in out whatsoever compared to Nadal.
