It is possible to get virus's from it but I have used it a lot and nothing bad has ever happened, and so have a lot of my friends.
But since you get the files from other people it is always possible that the file is corrupted

Your average mp3 is in the range of 4,000-8,000kb, depending on it's lenght, if you're dling a file that's 30,000kb, and it's just a 3:02 song, you know somethings up.
it depends. the bit rate/bit depth/sample rate of a file also affects its size. the standard mp3 is 128kbps, 16bit, 44.1kHz, so yes that would be around 4-8Mb. but a file that's really good quality, say 320kbps, 24bit, 48kHz, would be easily 15Mb or more.
