I'm going to be a junior in college in September. I attend a school ranked within the top 50 in the US (so top 2% of all schools), so it's pretty good lol. Was my first choice too, and I'm very happy. I went to a very good private high school that prepared me so well, especially with writing. I'm primarily a B student. I'll get the occasional C as a final grade, but also the occasional A Out of the 2 years and 18 classes I've taken, the break down is as such (negating the +'s and -'s) 3 C's, 13 B's, 2 A's I have a 3.0 GPA atm And I've set 3.0 as the lowest I want to graduate with. 3.0 or above is fine by me. No one can complain about a solid B average, imo The lowest I accept on exams and such is a B-, so my standards are high enough, but obviously the 3 C's shows that i do slip occasionally (albeit 2 of those 3 C's are in Required Courses that dont matter to my major, so when Grad Schools etc see my transcrip and A's and B's in the classes that matter, it makes me look even better) That being said, I don't exactly exert myself. I work the same way in College as I did in High School. That's a double edge sword, of course, because if I did care more, I would be pushing a 3.3 GPA I believe, but to me having fun is more important, and as I said, no shame in having a 3.0 GPA (at the lowest) when all is said and done Some of my course have indeed been challenging, and very few have been easy, so I do work, I'm not a slacker nor am I student who intetniaolly seeks out the easiest classes. I'm just thankful that I was able to attend such a good private High School. Everyone is different. But for me, a 3.0 + having fun is more important than a 3.2 or 3.3 and not hainv as much fun. Personally, I feel that when you're in that solid B range (3.0) then you're fine. Sure, higher is better, but again, no shame in a 3.0..... College is a breeze.

Congratulations, you have reached ENLIGHTENMENT. I also attended a very prestigious high school, and was told--repeatedly--that college would be easy after the rigorous coursework I went through. I plan on having fun during college.

I have a 3.6 entering my second year of college and going into the summer sessions and I've barely opened a book. My brother studies like a bitch and has a 4.0 (which is great for him), but yeah, college does seem to be pretty easy, and I go to one of the best in my state. Still...if you can do better, a 3.0 isn't exactly the best.

Meh, I don't think having attended a private high school helped you anymore than attending a public school helped me. My GPA my first semester of college was a 3.9. This semester, it was a 3.08. Then again, this semester was pure hell. I transferred to a school in another state and ended up having to deal with a lot of personal problems. Had I not had to, I imagine my GPA wouldn't have been anything lower than a 3.5. I figure, fuck, I'm paying a shitload of money to go to school, not go out and party. You get three months off during the summer and then you have the rest of your life after you're done with school to do whatever. Why waste your one shot and all the money you're putting in it?

I'm a senior at one of the best schools in my state. My GPA is currently a 3.9. Which, by the way, is up from a 2.8. I did decent in highschool, kept a solid c average. College is serious. It costs alot of money to go and I'm not about to take the chance of losing all my money for nothing. You gotta have some fun though. I checked out a website that had some real good tips on "enhancing intelligence", that have really helped me. I ordered the program, but the articles and FAQs are really helpful by themselves. It more or less tells you how to use what you've already got and get better grades.
so how are you at one of the best schools in your state if you had a solid C average in high school? unless youre in like... alaska? Post edited at 7:20 am on May 27, 2008 by BBallAsh23
