I'm thinking to the future, and always said I would put money away for my kids for school. Per kid I was thinking of putting $100 away per month.

That comes up to about $21,600, not including interest. (Which could bring it up to about $40,000)

Well, what do you think is good amount for school? Whatever is left over I'd encourage them to buy a car, or put it on a down payment for a house. (Or to stay in savings.)

BTW, I wouldn't tell my kids until right before they think about applied for OSAP. I would want them to grow up and work for what they want, I wouldn't want them to expect everything. That would be suck a shock to them.

College is just getting more and more expensive. Tuck away as much as you can for them.

you picked the wrong damn school.

If your kids get grants and such, 40grand would be more than enough.  However, by having so much in savings for them, you screw up their chances for getting government grant money.

Without grants, it all depends on what school they go to.

The first college I went to was about  6,000 a year.  Quite cheap and a decent college.

The second college I went to was about 18,000 a year

the school im in now is also about 18-19,000a year.

I should have just stayed at the first school and saved money.  I'd be in a MUCH better position than I am now (both financially and educationally).  People need to realize that more expensive often does NOT mean better.

i doubt it's worth the money.  often times cheaper schools end up being better than expensive ones.
