ok i can't get sound to go through and i got the menu to come up the first time i connected the cable now it doesn't come up any more where can i find the menu on vista? and how do i get the sound to work (the cable works with the ps3 for sound)

Well is it connected from the sound card or video card, make sure you have it connected to the sound card because it will not transfer audio from the video card.

The menu: First go to Control Panel then you go to Hardware and sound, and then Sound should be an option.

ok i got the sound working but i have it set so that if i connect the hdmi cable it auto displays only through whatever's connected
