It'd be good if we have the option to "Quick Message" an anonymous poster, where the message goes to their inbox but we won't know who they are unless they reply.

Is this possible?

Or how about receiving anonymous PMs from an anonymous poster?

I agree, suggested this before in the past.

Or only let support leaders have the ability, so the feature could only be used for support.

Duh. But this gives you the option to reply to them one-on-one. Equal rights for the anon!

I think it's a good idea. The anon poster should also be able to reply to the sender of the message anonymously.

People would take advantage of that tho. People would message them asking who it is and some other stupid shit. It's more trouble than it's worth

Um. How many support leaders do you think wouldn't abuse that?

How will it be abused? The person who initiates the PM won't be anonymous, so if they are abusive, they can get reported.

Sorry if I'm missing some point that's been discussed already when this was previously suggested.

You have a good point.

I could maybe understand members being able to send anonymous posters messages, but as Slim said you'd get harrassed about who you are.

If people where also allowed to send PMs anonymously I could see the feature being abused hugely unless members where encouraged to report abusive and guideline breaking messages a lot more then they currently do, and we'd have to be able to see who the anonymous sender is.

Basically I thought it was always agreed upon at least that posting anonymously has it's advantages and disadvages, mainly security and privacy at the price of certain forms of communication.

That's the point - they may remain anonymous while still receive one-on-one support. And they may choose to reveal their identities if they want, to someone whose PM helped. People can often benefit from PMs over in-thread replies because they can relate on a more personal level.

Okay, that makes sense for anonymous PMs. But how about non-anonymous PMs? I think anon posters can benefit from the option to reveal themselves in PM to certain members, or just to receive PMs from others without replying to them.

Look at eHelp, that's what eHelp does.
