It does what with Percocet?
I've heard that you shouldn't take it, because it is dangerous, but I've also heard that it makes it more potent (and how can that possibly be a bad thing?!).

I can't find anything on it that's extensive. Help, anyone? It's important.

A lot of medications interact with grapefruit juice. It can increase the amount of it in your blood to dangerous levels.

Is that an anti-depressant?
Because my mum used to take those (various forms) and on the bottom of the bottles of them, they had grapefruit as a highly toxic interaction for them.

I don't know, but I wouldn't chance it.

Percocet is a pain killer.
A really good one, but I am extremely tolerant to it, but the pain I'm having is debilitating right now. But I don't want to mix things to some dangerous combination or anything.

Grapefruit juice can cause medicine to reproduce larger quantities.

Grapefruit juice actually blocks the absorption of my medication, rendering it completely useless.

So perhaps that's what it does?

Then again, mine is an anti-inflammatory, not a pain killer, so it could be different.

It isn't dangerous if you are careful. It will indeed make it more potent and it will last much longer.

If you want to go ahead with it take a smaller than normal dose of the percocet, and a small amount of grapefruit juice and see how you personally react to the combination.

If you know:
A 7.5/325 Percocet with maybe just a few sips of grapefruit juice?
I hate grapefruit juice, so less is best, haha.

I've never taken pain killers in my life. I just know from reading about it from other medications. I know when I combined it with my meds that grapefruit juice is supposed to increase the effect for, it was barely noticeable.

So just take what you would consider a very small dose of your medication. And some sips of grapefruit juice. Wait an hour or two and see how your body reacts. Increase from there once you have a reference point to go by.

Start slowly, increase gradually.

It might have no effect on you depending how your body metabolizes it and many other factors, or it may have a strong effect. Who knows.

That's the exact reason doctors don't recommend it, it is so random!!!

grapefruit juice normally inhibits enzymes needed to digest & metabolize different drugs, and through this the drug taken becomes stronger in effect and may last longer in duration
