My friend got alcohol poisoning last night.

I stayed up all night with her...
I have never seen anyone so sick in my life.
I had to keep giving her water and saltine crackers just so she had some thing to throw up. She choked on her vomit a couple times; thank God she is ok. Her skin was white and her lips were blue...
I was so upset, I was having trouble breathing, after she finally went to sleep.
It was the scariest thing ever, I'm glad she isn't dead.
And I'm still shaken up by the whole thing.

where im from that doesnt count as alcohol poisoning... it just means she had too much to drink

alcohol poisoning from my understanding is when you are in the hospital because your liver is about to collapse

Hopefully it'll be a lesson to her to control her drinking. It is good to know she is okay, though.

I got alcohol poisoning once, 911 was called THANK GOD, and I was taken in the back of the ambulance. It's scary.

What the OP's friend experienced fits the medical definition of alcohol poisoning.

Signs and symptoms

Signs and symptoms of alcohol poisoning include:

   * Confusion, stupor
   * Vomiting
   * Seizures
   * Slow or irregular breathing
   * Blue-tinged skin or pale skin
   * Low body temperature (hypothermia)
   * Unconsciousness ("passing out")

It's not necessary for all of these symptoms to be present before seeking help. A person who has become unconscious, or cannot be roused, is at risk of dying.

Many times "having too much to drink" is alcohol poisoning--the latter does not have to be fatal.

In situations like the OP where someone is clearly suffering from alcohol poisoning but not unconscious, it's highly recommended to call 800-222-1222 (poison control). They will assess whether or not a trip to the hospital is necessary, and IMO it's much better to have a trained professional make that call than a panicking friend.

He was throwing up blood and stomach lining after he drunk paint stripper by mistake...wasnt a great night after that!
