A coworker of mine asked me to photograph his son playing baseball, since I am a professional photographer.  I am just starting out and am not sure what to charge (I'll be getting about 100 dollars for each graduation I photograph this month and the next).  It'll be photographing his son playing baseball for 2 hours each game.  How much do you think is a fair price to charge for that?

"Professional photographer" is a rather obscure term, it's hard to say how much you should get paid. Can we see some of your works?

I'd say since it's just for a kid, $25/game?

you need to figure out how you want to set your base price.  Do you want to charge by frame (example- 100 frames for X dollars), charge by the hour, or a flat rate for the entire shoot?  Figure that out, then research what other photographers in your area are charging and charge a bit less than that.  

One of my photography professors charged a flat rate of $1000 a day, but he is an established pro photographer and is able to charge such an amount.  


So... can anyone that charges for photo work call themselves a professional photographer? lol.

I asked a professor of mine and she told me 75 dollars to photograph, edit and print photos of kids playing sports.  So I plan to charge about that.  Also I live in NY so things are more expensive year.
