When you first took a flight on a plane, what did you think/feel before you did it and how did it finally turn out?
I'm gonna fly for the first time in a couple of months and it's ain't gonna be a short trip...
I won't be alone but I want other opinions since the person I'll be traveling with (my boyfriend) flies extremely often so I can't say we're equal and it's not helping much when he tells me it's okay, lol. You understand what I mean.

Flying really isn't as scary as people often assume. To be honest, the only bad part of the flying experience is airport delays and landing. When I say landing, I mean it's just a little bumpy and something so extremely minor that it doesn't add up to be scared of. Also, when you're up in the sky, it honestly feels like you're sitting still for hours on end. You can't even tell you're really "in the air"

It'll be okay :) Promise.

Planes are more safe than cars in the long run.

I hate flying, its just far to un-natural to happen just spend the entire trip tense and waiting for the engines to stop working, haha

*touch wood*

The engines don't "stop" working.

Trust me people, planes aren't as scary as you're all making it out to be.

I know an awful lot about how planes work considering my boyfriend fixes them for a living.

Yes, that's true.
Well, even my mom wondered what the hell I was afraid of... but I'll be 18 when I travel by plane for the first time and it's gonna be two flights on the same day and the second one is gonna be a very long one. At least I'll have a doctor sitting next to me, he can pretend to be a shrink for me.
I don't know why I'm afraid. I'm not generally afraid of heights but when it's about planes, there's no safe ground under you. And there will only be an ocean down there... and I don't like water much.

Yeah i know deep down its cool, i have familly who work as engineers building plane engines and they just look at me like a knob when i start my "that big big of metal shouldnt fly" rant.

When you're in the plane, just imagine you sitting in those rooms that movies use with the big green screen. It helps. I'm terrified of heights, but I love flying...because I know that I'm essentially safe. Plus, after you get comfortable with the fact of being in the plane, you'll be curious as to what the ground looks like from up there. It looks really cool. For example, the state Denver, in the winter, has perfectly circular circles in squares of land...it's really neat to experience that.

I was 3 the first time I went on a plane, so I can't remember my first experience.

However, from other trips I can remember that I usually feel really excited as well as a bit nervous. For no reason in particular, as I know it's all safe. I think once you're up in the air it just feels surreal, in fact the whole experience is surreal. It still amazes me and I've been travelling on planes since my first time at 3 years old.

Just try to relax, that's the best thing you can do. Watch the in-flight movie, read a magazine/book and talk to your boyfriend. It will pass quicker then you think.
