I was a baby when I first flew, but I've been flying regularly ever since. To be quite honest, I wouldn't be worried about it. It's not as scary as the media seem to portray it. Take some chewing gum or sweets just in case your ears pop because of cabin pressure, and drink plenty of water. Bring something to do, because inflight systems aren't normally very good! I'm sure you'll be fine though, it's honestly not anything to worry about.

At first you are going to be excited, but 10 minutes into the flight you are going to start to get bored...at least thats how it was for me...

I don't remember. I was just over a year old. My parents told me I cried, though. Haha. I get really bored when I have to fly. One of the worst things is waiting around in the airport in the check-in lines and the godawful security lines. And then there's all the regulations you have to follow. I don't know if they're quite as strict where you live, but I can't imagine it'd be too terribly different. I can't really complain, I suppose. Just listen to music and read a book and remember that everything is going to be okay. The worst part for me once I actually get on the plane is the turbulance. I hate it. But it's just a normal part of any flight, you have to remember. It's worst when you're going over fronts or high clouds. Anywhere where the weather changes abruptly is bound to be bumpy. Usually the pilot will come over the intercom and tell you when the plane is about to hit an area of turbulance. And they will steer the plane around anything that they deem unsafe to fly through, like big thunderstorms, obviously. You have to put trust in your pilot. Don't worry. The chances of anything bad happening are very slim.

I fly a lot. It really isn't too bad - take some sweets to suck on for take off and landing if you're concerned your ears may hurt. Long flights are more annoying than short ones. I'd recommend you buy some noise cancelling headphones if you want to sleep (or even be able to listen to music decently) while on the flight. Sleeping may be boring, but if its a long flight you may find it helps with jet lag. The things that bug me about flights are the noise on the plane, and the dry air. I usually end up having a cold after a long flight - probably all those people stuck breathing the same air for ages. I started taking multivitamins before and just after long flights, and it kinda helps. Boredom sucks, but really, that's the worst bit about flying. In all the times I've flown I've only encountered turbulence once - the rest of the time, takeoff is a breeze, you don't even know you're in the air while you're flying, and the landing is fine if you don't look out the window :)
