Americans have always done my tit's in when they refer to themselves as belonging to another country.
"Im mostly Irish"
"I can drink alot im Scottish" I would say first genreation Americans have a right to refer to themselves as having an attatchment to a country and mabey even at a push 2nd generation too. If you have never stepped foot in a country you cant belong to it no matter how many times youve watched braveheart. And another thing, only Americans refer to scottish people as "scotch" were fecking "scottish" rant over

That's the whole point of America really. You can be from wherever and you're still American, despite race, religion, original nationality, whatever. It's alright to say that they're from a certain country, as long as they don't deny that they're American, too.

Well your wrong, it doesnt matter if there 5th genoration. What matters is how much of there blood is that Nationalty. Of course they might not be a citizen of that country, but if they have a high % of that type of blood then they belong to that people. Such as Blacks in the US, they are called African American. If what you say is true none of them have a race to be called. And wtf is this about Braveheart? Anyone that knows basic history knows the Irish Settled Scottland manyyears ago during the Celtic Reign. You should do a little research.
