Quitting is hard.

Damn,

Well, I've quit. Or at least in the process of quitting. I've gone down from 20 cigarettes per day (I'm 16 years old) to about, 1 per week, thanks to my wonderful girlfriend. But, last weekend (its Tuesday) I had a relapse, bought a pack of smokes and downed them all in two days...

Now its like I'm trying to quit again for the first time, and these cravings are killing me. This is incredibly frustrating.

Any advice? I can't use nicotine replacements, besides the patches (which are too god damn expensive) because they make me sick.

Cheers.

Edit: Oh yeah, don't give me any bullshit advice like, "Think how much your body appreciates it" or whatever, cause you know that doesn't work

i would go to a doctor and i think you can actually try this new thing out called Chantix, or something lik that and it helped a family member of mine out to a half a ciggerette a week and eventually they quit

Buy a bunch of decks and every time you want a smoke, make someone force you to smoke an entire cig every two minutes for 20 minutes or as long as you can bear.  You will soon go off cigarettes.

Just straight up cold turkeying it man.  You've tried every viable option to quitting?  Try a few of those tv ad type products.

I know that buying like gum or mints or anything small to eat when you get a craving helps. Stay away from people who smoke (unless it's impossible). Good luck.

Don't let yourself buy them. It's goddamn impossible to throw cigarettes away.

You'll probably smoke occasionally now and then. Busy yourself with other shit like your girlfriend, videogames, whatever, and enjoy the vivid dreams for a while.

The problem is, where I go to school, you are allowed to smoke, and almost everyone does.

You go to TAFE then, If everyone in your group smokes then I suggest you don't sit to close to smokers when you're on break.

Oh wow, that's strange. Well then it'll be a little tough for you. You'll quit, it may take awhile but it'll happen.

Replacing one vice with another? Not really a good idea... trust me.

OP- Don't think of it as a failure to your quitting. As long as you stay away from 20 a day, and is still cutting down on them, you're still doing a good a job.

Do you know what the real problem is though? I LIKE being a smoker, and I LIKE smoking, and I've got no problem with my cigarrette consumption at the moment. Lets be honest here, the only reason I'm quitting is because of my girlfriend - I love her, but she can't stand the smell of it on me, or the taste of it on my lips, therefore she doesn't want to kiss/be intimate with me when I'm a smoker.

Whenever I have a smoke, I feel like I'm letting her down big time, and I'm torn between the two sometimes (like now, when I am SERIOUSLY craving a smoke).
