I believe you'd just get trial versions of all the Microsoft Office Programs/Applications. As for the Paint, I don't know...

It depends on what you get...

Programs like Notepad and Paint are part of the Operating System, and so will cme with your laptop (as long as the laptop comes preinstalled with Windows).

As for Microsoft Office, you'll only get it if the description specifically states it.  This software package can cost a lot of money.  If it doesn't come with the laptop, I'd recommend a free alternative called OpenOffice.

Laptops don't magically come with anything more than the OS, if there's more, it's what's added by the notebook manufacturer.

As for notepad and paint, those are part of windows, not extra programs.

Oh, and Vista is horrible, avoid it if you can like the plague.

XP is much better. More stuff will work, it will run faster (No matter how the good the machine, XP is signficantly faster), and the interface isn't a pain in the ass to use the same features that are easily accessible in any other OS, including XP.
Etc etc etc.
