Why are we getting such frequent "refer a friend" messages? Livewire doesn't seem to have a shortage of members.

Why is it that when using quotes in a message, the second quote has green font?

Is there any logic to the rank names at all? I mean, for names like "dairy product addict?"

What do moderators do, exactly? I don't say that to be rude, I'm genuinely curious. With a site this big I figure there must be more people doing webmastering than davejs, so I wonder how much of that the moderators have taken on.

3. Again, not aware of the reasons behind. Other mods or the site admin may have an answer that makes sense for this one, but i doubt again there is much reason.

In short, we deal with reports from members, move and edit topics. We check all images that come onto the site to make sure they are ok, deal with any issues between members and generally answer questions and keep the place from being too much of a mess. There are a fair few mods, although not so many that we end up with much time left over. Actual site maintenance is very much don't by David alone. If anything we make more work for him with our suggestions for the moderation system (which is has to be said is pretty impressive these days!)

First, thanks for the detailed explanation of moderators. (Hell, David must be constantly busy...)

What I don't get is why. If anything I'd say livewire has too many members; this must be the crisis point or near it for maintenance. So why all this stress on getting more members? Because somewhere in that throng might be a paying member? Then why not emphasize paid member benefits? The number of trolls in that throng is going to make people want to leave this site, and this site harder to maintain. I just don't understand!
