that thread is just wrong on so many levels. it was stickied so let's take that to mean LW-approved. so LW think it's great and totally healthy for people to boast about their... disorders.

now i think providing a place for people here to openly attribute their sadness or social awkwardness or whatever to a disorder is just sick and wrong, and a lot more harmful than being told to "Jump up your mother's cunt and die" or whatever

i dunno what the point of this thread is but i seen that thread and it freaked me out. and i just think it's weird for LW to approve that sort of thing.

maybe living with disabilities should be changed to living with physical disabilities, a place for people like girl19 with actual disabilities to post. not TDEI Part II. :/

the OP doesnt encourage but it's what people are doing in the thread. someone posted like 8 disorders, some other person posted "depression!" <-- most bizarre exclamation point ever.

well, I enjoy talking about my disabilities, not because I have them, but because it helps others who feel insecure about their disorders to come to accept them.  there is no cure for many of the  disorders out there.  we have to live with them.  so having a place to talk about them is not only healthy for many, not just one talking about it, but it helps others understand how we feel about them.

at least, I haven't seen anyone "boast" about them.  more like an "oh great, I got this...".  but really, if one is willing to try hard in life, despite their disability, I think they should be able to brag every blue moon.

And? Who are you to judge them?
The anonymity of the internet lets people tell others things without the fear of it becoming too serious. And many times, talking about those things can help people cope.
So, whine elsewhere.

Ditto

It makes people feel more comfortable in their skin and more comfortable with their problems, seeing other people have them.

I don't see it as a bad thing at all.
It can be a way of venting.

telling people to kill themselves because i dont like their avatar is a way of venting too and it causes no harm. wallowing in depression and... asperger's etc. is actually harmful and i hate that it happens so much here

I don't think theres anything wrong with it. lets say I have bipolar disorder and say that in that forum. It might feel good to be able to say it outloud and in a safe environment. It could help a person come to terms with it almost. It could also help to see that I wasn't alone. maybe i'd see a couple others with it and feel less weird.

I doubt you even have any disorders anyway. How would you know anything about it if you didn't have one.
