FYI pumping the gas pedal won't do shit on an EFI car. (electronic fuel injection)

I thought the same thing, but my dad's b13 sentra won't start up if you don't press the gas...  might have to do with something else though...

to the op- first thing that comes to mind is fuel pump..

.....you do realize this right:

When you press the gas on a fuel injected car it ONLY opens the TB butterfly valve to allow air into the intake. It does not determine how much gas flows into the system as its all computer controlled.

Therefore it does NOTHING when it comes to starting a car

there might be a NSS [neutral safety switch] malfunction.

civic, you might be able to shed some light here, I don't know if lasabre's have NSS's, But from the vehicles i've worked on, if there is a problem in neutral, it is usually that.

They have them.

I fixed it, I put gas in the car and it can start up now atleast. But I still have that short in the ignition. I'm able to sometimes start the car in park but can't start it in neutral.
I know you don't want to join up at other sites, but you're going into things I don't know about. The bonneville is the same exact car down to the transmission mounts.. the outer body is the only thing that's different.

register at http://www.bonnevilleclub.com, make your introduction post and then post the problem with as many details as you can provide in the 1992-1999 section (pretty low down in the forum near 2000-2005)

They will be able to help you for sure.

I KNOW THAT.
and still my dad's fuel-injected Sentra will NOT start up if you don't press the gas.. it also won't idle if you don't keep your foot on the gas the gas...  I really don't know why but it's a highly modified car and it's putting out twice the stock horsepower (no turbo).  It also knocks and does clacking sounds if you press the gas too much, even with 94 octane.  ...and it's a daily driver.  I have no idea why it requires you to press the gas pedal to start up... that goes against what I've learned in the institute, so i'll have to ask around...
