And no matter what happened or not, it's always sad that a 13 year old dies.

Maybe she was naiive, maybe there was more to it.

I sympathise with her and her family.

And I think your "ZOMG SHE'S A STUPID BRAT SHE DESERVED IT- NO SYMPATHY!!!!!!!!!" attitude is quite mental. I hope you rethink your position.

Not to mention, it dosen't sound christian, since it dosen't feel right.

I never said that it wasn't sad that she died. I said that I don't feel sorry for her. There's a difference. Why should I feel sorry for someone who clearly had a pretty decent life and chose to throw it away because she didn't get what she wanted? No. Sorry, but I'm not going to sympathize with a stupid spoiled brat.

I would also like to point out that "it doesn't sound Christian, since it doesn't feel right" may be the stupidest statement in this entire thread.

You know what's also a stupid reason to die? Because you smoked, but I bet if your grannie died tommorow because of it, you wouldn't think that  -  you'd sympathise.
That's not the point. The point, sweetheart, darling, hunbun, love, is that you have no idea what the girl was going through, perhaps low self-esteem issues, bullying, stress, anxiety, any number of different reasons. But you didn't think of those. Because the article said so.
And whether or not she did kill herself over this isnstant (highly, HIGHLY unlikey) is irrelevent. You should have sympathy, or empathy, or whatever, because a human being is able to say 'Hey, yeah, it is difficult being a kid.'
She might not have even wanted to kill herself.

I can't believe we're arguing like this when the whole point is someone has commited suicide.

Actually, it's not difficult being a kid. Teenagers think it's difficult because their brains are messed up by hormones, but then when they look back at their lives years later, they realize "God, I was such an idiot. What was my problem?"

As I said before: if there was something else going on in her life besides regular teenage angst, feel free to show it to me, and I'll take it all back. So far, no one has done so which, to me, is indicative of the nature of this situation (that being that a spoiled brat threw a tantrum that went wrong).

Furthermore, if I had a grandmother who smoked (which I don't, thank God my grandmothers actually have an iota of intelligence) and continued to do so despite knowing the health risks, and died because of it, no, I would not sympathize. Would I be sad about the loss? Sure. But they wouldn't have my sympathy, a la, "Oh the poor thing! I feel so sorry for her with this horrible situation she knowingly brought upon herself!" You do something stupid and die because of it, you don't deserve sympathy. That's why the Darwin Awards exist.

I'm going to set aside the fact you are a cold-hearted human-being for just a second, and say, once again, that I cannot believe we are arguing over a death. A suicide.

Do you believe everything you read in the media? I believe this was firmly set out to make people once again scared of people who like to dress in black.

Secondly, You DO NOT KNOW what this girl was going threw. Bullying, depression, anxiety, all of which feel tremendously difficult, when you are of a young age, mostly because you don't have that hindsight, ou don't know that everything is going to be fine. It feels, my good man, that the whole world is on your shoulders, and maybe this poor thing was feeling it just a tad more than you did.

But I'm going to leave it at that. I'm done with you. Go rot in hell, is all I can say, when you can't even respect the departed.

Seriously.

I like how I've become a cold-hearted person. It's amusing to me, particularly considering that all these people know of me (and of that situation) is what's been said in this topic.

I'd challenge the lot of you who are calling me cold-hearted to bring me evidence that this girl was going through more than a temper tantrum...if you can.

She lived in Kent, right?
I don't think the article made it particulary clear.

Yeah, East Peckham is about a ten minute drive away from where I am [near the edge of Maidstone].

More importantly, East Peckham is a shithole. No wonder she killed herself.

Who's angry and hating? I'm just pointing out that this kid doesn't deserve sympathy. She obviously lived a fairly decent life, with people who cared enough about her to notice when she started cutting herself to be "cool" and "emo," so there was definitely no good reason for her to go and hang herself, and if better reasons emerge, I'm sure the newspapers will start talking about them.

Frankly, emo kids really need to be taken out of their upper-middle class suburban homes and away from their parents who spend thousands annually on their Hot Topic clothes and MCR CDs and sent to Ethiopia or Tibet, so they can learn what it's like to actually have a difficult life.

Hey, little-miss-self-righteous. You post bullshit in so many topics it's fucking unbelievable.

Difficult lives are relative to the society you live in. What happens in third world countries is normal for them. They probably don't even know what life is like here. However, abuse, bullying and the general self-hate that the media creates around people, especially teens, isn't something that's easy.

How can we, when we know very little - just like you - about her.

The great thing about the media is it's ability to skew things to the way they want people to read them. Well done in reading it the way they want to, and being an open door for the kind of ideas they want to sink into people's brains.

You're still on about this?

Get. Over. It.

No one has provided a lick of evidence to show me that this was anything but a temper tantrum. It's over. Move on with your lives. Find something else to angst about.
