I really like the Office 2k7 interface. It was a very bold redesign and one that office really needed. I think few people are aware of what power office, especially word and excel have. Things were just getting lost in the menus and it was fine if you knew where things were, but if you didn't know to look it was crap. The new interface sorts the key functions based on task much better and hides functions you cant use. For example, there is little point having the table functions when you haven't got a table, hence they are hidden. I don't know anyone yet who hasn't spent a little bit of time with the new interface and then decided it was really really good. I know a lot of people who hated it at first, then finally got it and then don't want to go back. It does take a little time to get used to, its a big change, but its a very very worthwhile change that makes office a lot easier to use.
For example, i love thats styles are now much simpler to use. This has always been a great feature in all word processing applications, but this is the first implementation thats different and works really well.
I get the feeling most of this is people who tried it for 5mins and decided it looked different and so was clearly bad...
