Yeah. I used to use Open Office, but there were some features that were better done in Word than Open Office.

Besides, my copy is illegal. Don't tell Microsoft

I had Office 2007 but I hated the interface so I went back to 2003.

I really like the Office 2k7 interface. It was a very bold redesign and one that office really needed. I think few people are aware of what power office, especially word and excel have. Things were just getting lost in the menus and it was fine if you knew where things were, but if you didn't know to look it was crap. The new interface sorts the key functions based on task much better and hides functions you cant use. For example, there is little point having the table functions when you haven't got a table, hence they are hidden.

I don't know anyone yet who hasn't spent a little bit of time with the new interface and then decided it was really really good. I know a lot of people who hated it at first, then finally got it and then don't want to go back. It does take a little time to get used to, its a big change, but its a very very worthwhile change that makes office a lot easier to use.

For example, i love thats styles are now much simpler to use. This has always been a great feature in all word processing applications, but this is the first implementation thats different and works really well.

I get the feeling most of this is people who tried it for 5mins and decided it looked different and so was clearly bad...

i'm currently using Microsoft Office 2007 and i have to say that its ingenius. The interface is very userfriendly, the buttons all within easy grip and you dont have to memorize where you last found the particular button, and the editing of the document is childsplay if you ask me. At first, it looks confusing because of the new layout, but everything's still there, only in a new format. I especially liked the compatibility mode where you could convert 2007 word documents and others into office 2003 documents. oh  and lastly, office 2007 documents are smaller than office 2003 documents in terms of kilobyte size making them more efficient.

Since Microsoft Office isn't made for linux...I don't use it much.  I've used it at school a few times.  It's pretty shiny, but that still doesn't help for my computer.  Besides, it's too expensive.  Open Office or Star Office work just as well for basic word processing.  Star Office is free for windows users, as long as you download it through the google download pack.  Open Office is free to begin with.
