I'm applying for a couple of jobs for this summer.

My dad owns a large company, and I've worked for him before, but, I'm not sure if I can put that on the application, since it falls under the "personal reference" section. But yes, I had a real salary and everything.

Anyways, other than that, I haven't worked anywhere else.

I'm applying at EBGames/GameStop

and an upscale shoe store.

What should I ask for desired salary?

I was going to go with minimum wage, but I live in an upscale area, and most people I know who work, work for a couple bucks above it.

I would ask for about two dollars more than minimum wage. It's high enough that it's feasible, but low enough so that you won't seem like a jerk for asking for it (I always hated when people put something absurd like $15/hour for their very first job. It just kind of made me feel like they had no idea what they were talking about and made me feel like they lacked a bit of common sense).

Even if you are 98% sure that you will get minimum wage, it's always better to put something a bit higher. You never know, they might just bite for it!

Why would you even consider not putting the job down? Just because you worked for a family member doesn't make it any less of a job! I would totally put that down if it was me.

So when you're happy (Hurray!), or sad (Aw!),
Or frightened (Eeek!), or mad (Rats!)
An interjection starts a sentence right.
