i've taken a step away from windows and replaced it with Ubuntu linux. i've got it connected to the network and im pleased with it, however i would like to install wine. so i can emulate some windows programs. i've read a tutorial but the download links are dead and can't find what to do next. i've searched the net and can't find anything.

if someone could PM me and give us some help with this i'd appriacate it. i've got around 150 points i can give ya, i know thats not much, and if you can help us get it working i could even give ya some cash via paypal

i will also send ya my IM via PM if ya can help.

thanks

I've been reading up on Mandriva Linux, quite similar to Ubuntu. The pay version, Mandriva Powerpack has Cadega, which is supposibly much more stable than Wine. There are quotes saying it matches and sometimes surpasses windows.

A lot of times, you don't necessarily have to be able to open the wine program.  If you try to open a .exe file, it will automatically go through Wine, or if you right click the .exe icon, it will have an option to open it with Wine.
