I'm in a relationship right now and a couple of times my boyfriend has said some things that lead me to believe his mom is dead... I'm texting him right now and he just said something about how he's going to be sad thinking about his mom today and I don't really know what to say. I really want to know what the deal is, but I have no idea how to go about asking.. I mean, won't it be awkward if i just outwardly say, 'oh about your mom..is she dead?' I need helppp.

You two are dating, you shouldn't be scared to bring things up. Just be sensitive to the topic since it obviously will be a soft spot for him.
Why don't you text back and just ask, 'how so will you be sad?'His mum might not be dead but there are a number of reasons to what could make him feel that way. Offer to see him or spend some time with him. He'll appreciate you trying to learn more about him.
