i was just working away at my french and i looked in my dictionary to see what the french word for answer is (which is "reponse" if youre interested) and it struck me:

Why the hell is the letter "w" in the word answer?
Where did it come from?

most Germanic languages are like that. German and English both have words that are pronouced differntly than spelled. such as in  German  Guten abend (good evening) is prounuced in English alphabet as Gooten Ahhbent. It dont even make since in the German Alphabet much less the English one. And the German word UND (and) is prounouced oont in the English alphabet. what the fuck where these people thinking when they made these languages?
