From Yahoo! News:

CONCORD, N.H. - Since they first walked the planet, humans have either buried or burned their dead. Now a new option is generating interest — dissolving bodies in lye and flushing the brownish, syrupy residue down the drain.

Read more here.

It seems kind of disrespectful to the dead and I would never do this to myself or any of my loved ones. I can see why they would want to develop something like this though. What are your thoughts?

I once saw him fart a plum... I was plum surprised.

Who didn't know that you can dissolve a body with lye?

It's called making soap.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter, they have already passed on.

Do as you wish with my body once I am gone.

Sounds like a huge waste of money, intelligence, and even time to do such a thing. Especially when we can just bury bodies in the ground and let nature do the rest for us.

We don't have the space to continue with graveyards and such. Especially with all the war.

Graveyards become forgotten or even used over again.  Our only problem is that we try too hard to preserve bodies anyway. I was watching how it was made (on discovery channel) and they so happened to do one on coffins. They spend so much time and money on those stupid things to preserve bodies for as long as possible... and it's rather pointless. Personally, I would rather have my parents just bury me in a wooden box or better yet, just cremate me.

And there's always going to be war. Has been for thousands of years, so there's really no change in that. So that excuse is rather pointless.
