Your advisor is like...your best friend...
You have to double and even triple check things...like say, why you didn't get any scholarships or grants even though you had a 3.9 GPA when you transferred into the school...
Roommates...are a pain in the ass...be prepared to be a bitch, just in case...
You can't always trust your professors even though you'd like to. There are those that will be, at best, extremely unfair.

don't take 14 credits at once

That's like average here. Don't take more than fifteen. You're biting off more than you can chew. No class at a university is simple. They all require lots of time and devotion.

the difficulty of credits varies through colleges I think. the average here is around 10 and all the teachers cringe when I tell them I take 14

yeah the average here is 16. they cap us at like 22

Check for yourself even if your advisors tell you to do something. The ones at my school are notorious for being complete morons.

Actually go to class. Everyone has problems going at some point, but it's your money being wasted if you don't and you're not learning anything sleeping instead.

Don't ever think you're too good to ask for help. Sometimes you will need it.

When you're a junior start thinking about a job after college.  If you know what you want to do before you graduate, you won't be wondering "what do I do now".

You can't always trust the friends you make. Have fun in your first year because you won't be able to do it after that. I have wasted my first year.

When you're a junior start thinking about a job after college. If you know what you want to do before you graduate, you won't be wondering "what do I do now".

<--i just graduated three days ago...still have no idea what i am going to do! -- also, it's okay to work, but dont work alot, otherwise you'll end up stupid and failing your major 5 times...
*also, show up for class -- most instructors dont have the time or 'memory' to remember what they talked about in class, so this brings me to another point to get to know the people in your classes, so if you do happen to miss, you can get together w/ them and find out any assignents or notes
*dont waste any time doing assignments/papers/projects--the more you procrastinate, the harder it is to bullshit your way thru it (trust me, been there, done that)
*if you live on campus, learn to deal w/ the cafeteria food
*if you want to have a party, do it at someone else's place so you dont get kicked off campus and out of school if you get caught!

that's all i can think of for now.

14-15 credits is perfect for a Freshman, allows you to drop 1 class and still remain a full time student.

Befriend your roommate(s).
