my father tends to refer to me as "it", or "stupid", "halfwit", things like that. When the whole family's together, he's able to focus his attention on my mother and my brothers and go through entire dinners like i'm not there. when i am there, he tends to talk to my mother as though I'm not.
Once, when we were at a resturant, he actually referred to me as the "stupid one". My grades aren't horrible, but they're not as good as they could be. my mum's said it was just to motivate me to do better, and i'm sure she wouldn't qualify it as verbal abuse, but its been getting worse and its lasted two years.

That is so not right. This will be hard, but try to ignore it. If you show it doesn't bother you, he'll get bored and stop.
