i did have one friend who had serious issues with this. she lied about really hurtful things, too - being pregnant, being made to have an abortion, having breast cancer, having an eating disorder, getting involved with this really bad gang and being made to do all sorts, rape. the list goes on. it was awful because we just didn't know what to do - we KNEW she was lying, and we had proof, but to lie about such things suggest a serious problem. i mostly tried to support her the best i could, and not give too much attention to the lies she was telling. it fizzled out eventually, and then she found God and was helped a lot by youth workers. whatever worked for her, i guess...
